Boone Well Represented At State Fair

This year, four members of the Boone County 4-H Genealogy Project took their notebooks to the Indiana State Fair. Also, this year marks the first time that a 4-Her from Boone County--Adam Rice--was awarded Sweepstakes for his genealogy project (the top award for the genealogy project at the state level).

The three other Boone County 4-Hers who exhibited at the State Fair were: Sarah Ewigleben (Division III, Blue), Ray Keith Everett (Division IV, Blue), and Madison Riegel (Division II, Merit).

Allen County Public Library Bus Trip

In October, the SullivanMunce Cultural Center is hosting a bus trip to the Allen County, Indiana, Public Library. The Allen County library is located in Fort Wayne, and it is considered to be the second largest collection of genealogical materials--over 350,000 print volumes and 513,000 items of microfilm and microfiche--in the country. BCGS Meeting, 23-Mar-2010

Tonight, the Boone County Genealogical Society will be holding a meeting at Lebanon Public Library from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. The speaker will be Ron Darrah of the Indiana Genealogical Society. He will be giving a talk on Civil War Research. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Lebanon Public Library from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Civil War Display @ LPL

A US Civil War exhibit is now on display in the Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library.
It is a traveling exhibit from the Indiana Historical Society. It is an interactive display depicting
Hoosiers who served in the Civil War. The exhibit will be on display through April 2nd.

Civil War Round Table - Author Talk and Book Signing

The Civil War Round Table will meet in the Ralph Stark Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library on February 25, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Speaking to the group will be award-winning storyteller and Indiana Author, Mary Blair Immel. She will discuss her book " Captured! A Boy Trapped in the Civil War". She will also have copies of the book available for purchase. The program is free and the public is invited to attend. New Civil War Group @ Lebanon

On January 28th, about twenty people met in the local history department of the Lebanon Public Library. Their purpose was to discuss the formation of a group to learn about and possibly preserve information regarding the Civil War (1861-1865). The next meeting of the group is scheduled to be held at Lebanon Public Library on February 25th at 6:30 pm. The speaker is yet to be announced.
